5 Ways Your Body Is Trying to Tell You to Cut Back on Salt

Salt is a mineral that’s essential for healthy functioning, but it can be a problem when we consume too much – and far too many of us do. In fact, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 90 percent of American adults consume more than the recommended limit, which is no more than 2,300 milligrams of sodium each day, or about a teaspoon of salt. That can lead to many people consuming a very high amount of sodium without even realizing it. Limit the Use of Condiments. Condiments like ketchup and barbecue sauce tend to contain a lot of sodium.
